The challenge
Blome, a multi-division industrial manufacturer, quoted in spreadsheets. Every division and rep did it differently, pricing lived in people’s heads, and terms, product sheets, safety data sheets and drawings were attached by hand. Quotes were slow, inconsistent, and a math mistake away from lost margin. Every new hire took months to ramp.
How we thought about it
Before scoping a feature, we asked the questions their last vendor did not. How much did bad quotes cost? What has to be tracked to prove it worked? We demanded the real workflow, the good flow, the bad flow, the annoying parts, and scoped Phase 1 to the highest-value slice: the quoting engine itself.
